31 Aug Youth Volunteer Photographers Wanted!

The Speak Your Mind Project is a photography campaign dedicated to raising awareness about mental health and giving youth a chance to share their stories. Created by youth, the SYM Project is about putting a face onto the issue with the hopes that if people can see who exactly mental health problems affect, we wouldn’t feel uncomfortable talking about them more openly. It is about making an invisible issue very visible. It is about learning to start the conversation sooner rather than later. It is about educating our youth on the prevalence of mental illness and mental disorders. It is about lessening the silence because our conversations about mental health today, can prevent the more serious consequences of mental illness tomorrow.

The Speak Your Mind project is currently recruiting volunteer photographers in the upcoming school year to help photograph and record the stories of youth in Calgary. If you are interested in mental health awareness and have a passion for photography, fill out the application here.
