Youth Central Awards
Planned for youth, by youth, the Youth of Distinction Awards (YODA) is an exciting city-wide program that celebrates outstanding youth aged 12 – 18 across eight non-academic categories: Advocacy, Arts & Culture, Environment, Leadership, Peer Support, Perseverance, Sportsmanship, and Volunteerism.
These awards aren’t about grades—they’re about recognizing leadership, friendship, overcoming challenges, and community service. It’s a chance to honour different types of young leaders who make a difference! It’s also about giving the young members of the Steering Committee a chance to hone their leadership, promotional and critical thinking skills.
Nominating a youth not only makes them feel appreciated, it also gives their confidence a boost! Plus, nominations look fantastic on school and job applications.
If you’re a youth aged 12 – 18 in the Calgary area, you could be part of our next youth with distinction! Nominators are welcome to nominate more than one youth.
Anyone can nominate a youth—friends, teachers, coaches, parents, other youth. The only limit is that a nominee can’t nominate themselves.
Nominations run from June to February. Nominees are notified of the finalists in early April. Why wait? Nominate today!
