Turnt Up Block Party

Turnt UpThe Youth Volunteer Corps steering committee organized a block party event that inspired youth to become active citizens and leaders for the future. This community event took place at Shaw Millennium Park and included: a local DJ, food trucks, non-profit agency booths, interactive volunteer activities, games, vendors, and entertainment. These different elements came together to create a vibrant urban celebration. Through this initiative, they connected Calgary’s youth to community organizations, celebrated what youth are currently doing for their community, and inspired everyone to make a difference through volunteerism.

Participants had the opportunity to learn about the multitude of ways to give back to their community through agencies. They involved partners from previous events such as: Between Friends, Calgary Public Library, The Distress Centre, and The Salvation Army.
