19 Mar Volunteer in Profile: Brandon Wedemire

1) Why did you begin volunteering with us?
 
I started volunteering because of a man named Tony. Tony came in to my school one day and he gave a presentation on the different options at youth central like the YVC, Mayor for A Day, Youth are Awesome, etc etc. Of all the things he mentioned I was really interested in doing the YVC. In the presentation Tony also mentioned that in a few days Youth Central would be trying to break a record. I stayed after class, Tony helped me get signed up for the project and I’ve been volunteering ever since.
 

2) What is your favourite part about it?
 
My favourite part of volunteering is meeting all the amazing people who volunteer with Youth Central.
 
3) What do you get out of volunteering?
 
Volunteering helps me get more comfortable talking to new people, and it also gives me a chance to helpout my city which is something I didn’t have before Youth Central.
 
4) Do you have any specific goals when it comes to volunteering?
 
I really just try to be the best volunteer I can be. I try to be positive and friendly to my fellow volunteers and help them out if they are struggling with a task. I also try really hard to be on time for my projects but that doesn’t always happen.
 
5) What might you say to any peers thinking of getting involved?
 
The volunteers are great. The team leaders are great. The projects are great. There are no negatives involved with volunteering with Youth Central.
