03 May YODA 2025 Honours Young Changemakers
On the final day of National Volunteer Week, the Youth of Distinction Awards (YODA) honoured 24 outstanding youth finalists (ages 12–18) who are creating real, lasting change in Calgary through their leadership, creativity, advocacy, and service.
From volunteers who dedicate their time to supporting those in need, to activists championing social justice, to athletes demonstrating sportsmanship and teamwork, to friends who bring joy into the lives of others—these awards recognize the full spectrum of leadership, compassion, and creativity that define Calgary’s youth.
Celebrating these powerful youth is more important now than ever, as adult volunteer rates are in steady decline across Calgary, youth are rising to meet the moment and fill that gap. More than just an awards ceremony, YODA is a powerful reminder of what is possible when we uplift and empower young people. These finalists show us that youth are more than just tomorrow’s leaders, they are leading right now.
Thanks to the support of generous sponsors and dedicated volunteers, Youth Central is proud to provide a platform that highlights and inspires the next generation of changemakers.
