Through Leadership and Volunteer Programs
We put youth in the driver’s seat! Our youth-centric approach, combined with our commitment to choice and diversity, makes us truly unique.
Unlike other programs, we don’t limit youth to a specific demographic or just one volunteer path. We welcome youth from all backrounds, neighborhoods and incomes for free. This diversity enriches the experience, allowing youth to learn not just from our programs, but from each other.
Youth-led Events
From career days to social meetups and workshops on job hunting or scholarship applications, youth plan and manage free events perfect for exploring new topics and connecting with new friends. Meanwhile, the youth planning and hosting the events develop teamwork, communication, planning and budgeting skills that will serve them throughout their lives. Learn more.
Team-based Community Volunteer Projects
Youth choose from 700+ volunteer projects, contributing tens of thousands of volunteer hours every year! They work in teams of 8 – 12 peers, guided by our staff, who facilitate activities that maximize learning and engagement while managing risks. Learn more.

Discovering Choices
This leadership program supports youth facing various barriers, helping them build resilience, develop essential life skills, and earn credits and volunteer hours needed for graduation through service on Discovering Choices Youth Council. Learn more.

Bounce Back
Fosters communication skills and emotional management in incarcerated youth. By harnessing the transformative power of hip hop, this program creates meaningful change and provides participants with valuable tools for personal growth. Learn more.
Calgary Cinderella Project
Calgary Cinderella Project
Eliminates stigma and barriers by discreetly providing aspiring graduates with free formal attire in a safe and welcoming environment. This program ensures that all youth feel valued and confident as they celebrate their achievements. Learn more.
Leadership
Our leadership programs are opportunities for youth to level up their community involvement while building 21st century leadership skills that will help them navigate whatever the future throws at them with ease.
Calgary Youth Foundation
The Calgary Youth Foundation cultivates future community leaders by developing their communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Participants gain experience in fundraising and distributing funds to support youth-driven community projects, fostering a spirit of philanthropy and initiative. Learn more.
Mayor’s Youth Council
The Mayor’s Youth Council builds leadership skills and civic engagement by facilitating regular meetings with Calgary’s Mayor. Participants amplify youth voices on local issues and develop valuable resources for young people. Learn more.
Youth Volunteer Corps
Our Youth Volunteer Corps empowers over 2,000 young people each year to build confidence, form social connections, and develop leadership skills. Participants engage in group volunteer projects that support our 110+ community partners, making a meaningful impact in their communities. Learn more.

Youth of Distinction Awards
Planned for youth, by youth, the Youth of Distinction Awards is an annual, city-wide program that honours and motivates different types of young leaders across nine non-academic categories.
