Youth Volunteer Corps in Schools

IMG_3496Youth Volunteer Corps in Schools provides students with the opportunity to improve their local community and school through volunteerism.

For youth interested in: Volunteering, community service, school engagement

What we do: We lead schools and community organizations in the creation of their own Youth Volunteer Corps clubs, where the youth can volunteer both within their school or organization and can take on projects with the general Youth Volunteer Corps. The scope of the program is city-wide, encompassing junior and senior high schools in the Calgary Board of Education, Calgary Catholic School District, and private and charter schools. The program works with teachers or other school personnel to offer volunteer opportunities that compliment curriculum and student interests.

The following schools have a Youth Volunteer Corps club:

  • Bishop Carroll
  • Crescent Heights
  • Dr. E.P. Scarlett
  • James Fowler
  • John G Diefenbaker
  • Lester B Pearson
  • Queen Elizabeth
  • Sir Winston Churchill

The Youth Volunteer Corps in Schools also hosts classroom, school and community presentations on youth volunteering and philanthropy. The presentation can be custom-designed to fit audience needs and time restrictions.
