OUTREACH
Youth Central’s Outreach program builds resilience in youth experiencing challenges in their lives by empowering them to give back to their community while developing personal skills. The program engages at-risk youth with creative workshops and volunteer projects that help to develop music, writing, leadership and community service skills.
HOW IT WORKS
Unlike Youth Central’s other programs, Outreach is not open to the general public. Our Outreach Coordinator works directly with personnel and youth at the Calgary Young Offender Centre, Enviros ExCel Discovery program, and Discovering Choices Outreach Schools to facilitate Bounce Back and Discovering Choices Youth Councils.

BOUNCE BACK
Bounce Back engages youth through the Calgary Young Offender Centre and Enviros ExCel Discovery program. It draws on music, hip-hop culture, and the arts to help youth be creative and express their feelings and experiences in a safe and supportive environment. The goal of Bounce Back is to encourage youth to direct their emotions towards a positive outlet, think critically, and hone their artistic abilities.
DISCOVERING CHOICES YOUTH COUNCIL
Youth Central’s Outreach program currently works with four Discovering Choices Outreach high schools to develop and facilitate a youth council. These youth are committed to making their school and community a better place. With the help of our Outreach Coordinator, the youth council volunteers and facilitates fundraisers for several community organizations.
