Press Release: Youth of Distinction Awards recognizes leaders of tomorrow

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 13,
2018 Youth of Distinction Awards recognizes leaders of tomorrow

Calgary – Youth Central is pleased to announce it’s 15th year of the Youth of Distinctions Awards! Nominations are now being accepted until February 26, 2018.

The Youth of Distinction Awards (YODA) provides an opportunity for Calgarians to nominate youth (12-18 years old) who deserve recognition for their outstanding contributions to the community. Categories include: Advocacy, Arts and Culture, Environment, Leadership, Peer Support, Perseverance, Sportsmanship and Volunteerism. The ceremony will be held on May 5, 2018.

“YODA is a unique event that is organized by youth, for youth. Not only is the ceremony planned by youth, but the finalists and recipients are chosen by a youth steering committee,” said Lan Tran, a grade 12 student at Central Memorial High School and Co-chair of YODA for her second year. “YODA inspires youth to broaden their worldviews and find a cause they are passionate about. YODA shows youth that others are listening to their voices and encourages youth to leave a positive impact on the city.”

Additional information and nomination forms can be found on our website: https://youthcentral.com/yoda/
