How it works

Is your project the right fit?

Is your project:

  • At least four weeks from today
  • Outside of school hours and wrapped up by 10:00 PM
  • At least 1.5 hours long
  • Suitable for a group of at least 8 volunteers
  • Accessible by public transit
  • Open to a new group of volunteers each time

If you answered “yes”, there’s a good chance your project is the right fit for our youth! Didn’t check every box? No worries, let’s chat through it—we might be able to make an exception.

Let’s chat

Before we officially accept your request, let’s properly introduce ourselves and the Youth Central process. We want to be sure your requests are being met while our standards are being upheld.

Submit your request

Be prepared to answer the 5 Ws and H:

  • Who you are
  • What your event/project is
  • When it will happen
  • Where it’s located
  • Why the event/project is happening
  • How many volunteers do you need?

Sit back and relax

Once your project is approved, we’ll handle all the recruiting and volunteer coordination.

A trained staff member will be assigned to your project and will confirm the details of your project at least 2 weeks in advance. They’ll also be onsite and responsible for the management and supervision of our youth volunteers.

FAQ

We can provide a minimum of 6 youth volunteers and up to 24 youth volunteers. Need more volunteers than that? Shoot us an email and we can see what we can do.

Note: Team Leaders are considered staff and not included in that volunteer count.

As many times as you want—there’s no limit!

While we cannot guarantee filling every project, we do encourage you to ask for anything you may need, and we will do our best to provide volunteers.

We welcome a variety of projects from special events, recurring services (meal serving or donation sorting), to arts and crafts. Our volunteers are eager to lend a helping hand any way they can. There’s no job too big or small for us!

Since our volunteers are minors, we can’t accept projects:

  • End past 10:00 PM
  • Involved with gambling or alcohol
  • Outside of Calgary city limits
  • During school hours (8:00 AM – 3:30 PM)

At least 1.5 hours. Volunteer projects can last the entire day up until 10:00 PM.

If you need volunteers for a longer period of time, we might divide the project into multiple shifts, each with a fresh batch of volunteers.
