Discovering Choices Youth Council
Work with other students to turn big ideas and small actions into real change at your school.
You have more power than you think
The Discovering Choices Youth Council empowers students to strengthen their school community from within. Members collaborate on ideas, build friendships, and take action on initiatives that matter to them. It’s about creating positive change right where you learn and grow. Students gain confidence, teamwork skills, and a stronger sense of belonging along the way.
What’s the commitment
Consistent meetings
Youth Council members meet weekly at school for one school year.
Show up and do your best
Your presence and perspective matter. Show up when you can, try your best, and let us know how we can support you.
What’s it like?

Decide what matters as a team
Work as a team to identify and select the issues and projects the council focuses on each year.
Take action
Turn your ideas into real projects that make a difference at school and in your community.
Build skills as you go
Grow confidence, leadership, and real-life skills through hands-on experiences.
Supported every step
You’ll be guided by a Discovering Choices staff member and a Youth Central coordinator.
Where is it?
Youth Council runs right at your Discovering Choices school. Meetings happen during the school day, so there’s no travel or extra transportation to figure out.
Get started
Are you a student at a Discovering Choices school? You’re welcome to join! Youth Council intake happens each September. Keep an eye out for posters or talk to a Discovering Choices staff member to see if it’s a good fit.
