Use hip-hop to build confidence, communication, and emotional skills that support real growth
YOUR VOICE, YOUR EXPERIENCE, YOUR MUSIC
The Bounce Back program supports youth in custody at the Calgary Young Offender Centre (CYOC) in strengthening communication and emotional skills. Through hip-hop and creative expression, participants explore identity, resilience, and personal growth. The program creates space for reflection, confidence-building, and skill development that extend beyond the experience. It’s about turning creativity into positive change and building skills for a stronger future.

“It feels like you can’t express yourself in here, be hard, act hard, but this is a place to open up.”
Bounce Back Participant
“Youth that are normally quiet and introverted, come out of their shell and share, communicate with their peers, and participate in the community… [they] show support of their peers… and many of the youth… continue their writing well after the program has ended.”
