In existence since 1992, the Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC), a partnership between Youth Central and The City of Calgary, represents the voice of Calgary’s youth.
For youth interested in: Politics, current issues, youth engagement
What we do: The Mayor’s Youth Council consists of youth ages 13-18 who choose topics relevant to youth and report their findings to The City of Calgary. Along with advising the municipal government on issues important to youth, the MYC offers youth input to a variety of citywide organizations. The MYC is chosen in early fall and is divided into subcommittees based on abilities and interests. They meet as a large group monthly and as subcommittees every two weeks.
If you’re wondering what our Mayor’s Youth Council has been up to, please check out the Year End Report to the Community 2011 – 2012.
The Mayor’s Youth Council is no longer recruiting for the 2012 – 2013 program year.
